Intern Position: Fall 2016
English for New Bostonians’ (ENB) mission is to increase access to high-quality English language learning opportunities for adult immigrants in Boston. ENB makes and manages grants to ESOL programs, provides training and technical assistance, and leads the statewide English Works Campaign. The Campaign focuses on increased business investment in ESOL, policy advocacy, and capacity development.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Event Coordination and Program Support intern will work with the ENB staff, attending bi-weekly staff meetings and other meetings and events as applicable.
Specific tasks will include a mix of the following activities, based on availability and scheduling of work throughout the organization:
- Assist with fundraising and special events, including a statewide ESOL recognition breakfast, an ESOL for Parents and Caregivers convening, and others. Assistance may include researching potential donors, developing materials, and handling logistics.
- Support ENB’s Board of Directors and committees including preparation and recording of meetings, as-needed research and materials development, etc.
- Support ENB’s special ESOL initiatives, such as our ESOL for Parents and Caregivers Initiative, our ESOL for Entrepreneurs Initiative, and our English Works Campaign.
- Other tasks as determined by ENB's need/intern's interest(s).
Skills desired: Excellent communication and organizational skills; Microsoft Office suite including Excel; appreciation for English for New Bostonians’ mission. Photography skills a plus but not required.
Location and hours: 105 Chauncy St. 7th Fl., Boston. 16-24 hours per week. Office open 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday (excluding public holidays). Anticipated start date is ASAP, September 2016 running through the fall, with an option to extend into Spring 2017.
