As Business Partnerships Manager, Suzanne acts as liaison to ENB’s partner businesses, bringing them from inquiry to operational English learning site. This includes hiring and ongoing support for teaching consultants to develop and implement contextualized curricula, and managing scheduling and other needs with the business to offer classes in a timely manner.
Suzanne Metro remembers her time as a youth exchange student learning German for a year near Frankfurt, where supportive classmates waited patiently for her to finish each sentence and asked clarifying questions when they didn’t understand her. This experience motivated her to start volunteering at Jones Library in Amherst, Massachusetts to work one-on-one with adult English learners while studying at UMass Amherst. She went on to complete her ESOL teacher training through the AmeriCorps New American Integration Program (NAIP) in Boston, for which she later became Program Director at the Massachusetts Immigrant & Refugee Advocacy (MIRA) Coalition. Suzanne also served in AmeriCorps Massachusetts Promise Fellowship as Youth Entrepreneurship Coordinator at Asian Community Development Corporation, and worked as Human Resources Generalist for a small general contractor / construction manager. She is passionate about creating healthy, equitable workplaces, which led her to her work at English for New Bostonians. Suzanne holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health from the UMass Amherst.
