For Educators
resources for educators
Whether you are a classroom teacher, program director, or executive director, ENB offers practical tools to support high-quality English language learning. Drawing on more than two decades of experience working in adult ESOL, these resources are designed to help educators create engaging, learner-centered programs that respond to the realities of immigrant adults’ lives.
Customized Training for Educators
ENB offers customized trainings virtually and in person for our ESOL providers as well as adult educators statewide on topics including: teaching multi-level classes, how to conduct standardized testing, integrating technology/digital literacy into curricula, and incorporating job readiness skills with English instruction. Technical assistance offers more intensive support to help programs with planning, assessment, recruitment/retention, and other topics.
ENB also offers cohort-based trainings for our specialized initiatives such as ESOL for Parents and English for Immigrant Entrepreneurs, enabling our programs and independent providers to share best practices and form peer learning communities.

ESOL for Parents & Caregivers Curriculum
ENB’s ESOL for Parents and Caregivers curriculum gives ESOL teachers background materials, lessons and activities designed to help immigrant parents learn English and become more effectively involved in their children’s education. It is a contextualized, school-related curriculum that teaches speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in the context of schools, education, and parenting, contexts which are absent in many of the standard ESOL texts teachers use.
There are three main topics:
1) Navigating Boston Public Schools
2) School Involvement
3) Supporting Children’s Learning
With this curriculum, ESOL teachers can orient immigrant parents to the U.S. school system, and provide them with practical skills such as interpreting report cards and participating in teacher conferences. While some of the information is Boston-specific, much can be used in any locale.
